It seems these day no matter how old our homes are there is always a newer version or trend that is in style. I blame HGTV for this fact. Ironically, no matter the gender, race, age, etc. just about everyone I know has seen at least one show highlighting home fixes and remodels. So what are normal Joe’s to do to stay fashionable with our homes without breaking the bank.
My simple fix for the month is lighting. Rarely does anyone think to change their light fixtures but simply removing those brass goodies will shed a whole new light of how our homes look. (pun intended).
Here are just a few options that may help you see a difference:
- Simple silver lights in the bathroom can make it look almost like new
- This brushed nickel chandelier would look great over a table.
- If you want something fun in your kitchen, these lights are made from bottles. If you are crafty enough, you may be able to do this yourself.
While looking for replacement lights on a budget, check out the Lawrence Habitat Re-Store or simply google inexpensive or cheap light fixtures. Home Depot also has great lights at affordable prices.
If that still sounds like more than you want to spend how about spray painting old fixtures with black spray paint. I have actually seen this done with great success.
I am not an electrician but most handy men or women can simply change out light fixtures. You may just want to make sure power is off to that source while changing them.
